Q&A With Author Lorraine Nelson

Today I’d like to introduce the most prolific author I’ve interviewed yet. The amazing Lorraine Nelson has been published since the 1990’s, writing romance novels and children’s books. Hoppy Froggy is her latest picture book. Please welcome her to the Reading Room.

Q. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your books.

A. Hello! My name is Lorraine Nelson and I write books. I’m an East Coast Canadian, born and bred in beautiful New Brunswick. Mom says I’ve been writing and telling stories from the time I picked up my first pencil. God love her. In reality, I remember writing short stories and poems since elementary school. I even won an award back then for an essay I wrote and in Junior High, I had a poem published in the Legion newsletter for Remembrance Day.

I wrote and published children’s books in the nineties, which were approved by the Department of Education here in New Brunswick.

It was due to the amputation of my thumb that I began writing novels in the hopes of regaining flexibility in my left hand. So, in 2009, I began writing for adults and have won two reader’s choice awards for romantic suspense.

I enjoy spending time with my three sons and six grandchildren. When not at the computer, you can find me spending time with family, gardening, baking and, of course, reading.

My books (of all genres, not just children’s) are listed on my website where you’ll find blurbs, excerpts, reviews, and more. http://lorrainenelson.weebly.com

Q. Please tell us something about your latest success.

A. My latest claim to fame in the children’s market is Hoppy Froggy, written for my oldest grandson when he was four and illustrated by my sister, Sharon Wilson-Dupuis.

Q. What has been your biggest challenge?

A. Everything!!! Since I began writing again, I’ve had to learn how to use social media, a blog, and a website; how to develop author pages wherever I can, and of course, marketing. I’ve also learned how to publish on Amazon and Createspace, so that most of my self-published work is now available in print.

Q. What are your plans for the future?

A. I’ve currently started a series that I believe is turning out to be for young adults, which wasn’t my intent to begin with, but the characters seem to have decided otherwise. LOL

And of course, I still write for adults as well. At present, I have 31 titles available for adults with 2 more releasing this month. Plus Hoppy Froggy.

Writing keeps me somewhat sane. I’ve learned to write whatever and wherever the muse takes me.

I love to hear from readers. You can email your comments to: lorrainenelson_author@hotmail.com or use the contact form on my website.
